Hi Everyone,
Just back from a wonderful stay at Castell Son Claret. A Leading Hotel of the World resort nestled at the foot of the UNESCO-protected La Tramontana mountains of Mallorca. A mere 30 minute drive from Palma.
The feeling of entering a world of dreams consumed me as soon as we turned off the main road and started our accent up to the Castell entrance. A true hidden gem that beckons travellers seeking serenity and luxury.

Castell Son Claret – Mallorca Luxury Dreams Are Made Of
Introduction
Fun fact – the Castell Son Claret estate dates back to 1450. Originally a farm for an aristocratic family living in Palma. The Castell itself was built in the 18th century and left in ruins for many years before their current owner took over and renovated the property to it’s current state.
It has been this dreamy hotel for 11 years now.
The accommodation
With only 43 rooms and suites, this boutique hotel offers a true intimate experience. Each room and suite at Castell Son Claret is a haven of comfort and elegance. From private terraces to charming gardens, every detail has been carefully curated.
My suite even had its own private pool!
A generous living room, fabulous bedroom with the most comfy bed and luxurious wardrobe area leading to an elegant bathroom.
See here for a full description of all the luxury accommodation types available.
Gastronomy
Foodies will delight in the culinary offerings.
I fell in love with Sa Castra, the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant. It is set in the pretty courtyard in the warmer months and offers fabulous Mediterranean inspired dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Some are even sourced from the Castell Son Claret’s very own herb and veggie garden,
I certainly recommend going for the wine pairing option. The restaurant has the most charming sommelier who has a new story to tell with each wine.
As the night evolved this restaurant setting only became more romantic…
Breakfast in the sun:
Breakfast is served outside at the restaurant Olivera which can also be booked for dinner. This is where you get to enjoy local Mallorcan food as all dishes are made using ingredients which are sourced nearby. Freshest bounty from the ocean, the orchards and the fields that surround Castell.
The Castell Herb and Veggie Garden:
Do stroll down to the Castell’s own herb and veggie garden. A project Castell Son Claret is doing together with a local non profit organisation.
Wellness and Relaxation:
Let’s start with the stunning 20 meter outdoor pool. It is set with a fantastic view over the surrounding countryside.
There is a bar area tucked off to the side of the pool for those wishing to relax with pool view or simply order a pool drink.
The hotel’s indoor spa is a sanctuary for the senses. Treat yourself to a massage or unwind in the indoor pool.
For more active guests there is a tennis court and hotel bikes available. You might also like to try one of the hiking trails that lead to breathtaking vistas.
A sense of belonging:
What truly sets Castell Son Claret apart is its sense of belonging. Whilst staying at this privately owned estate with carefully manicured gardens and super attentive, friendly staff I felt as though I was much more than a guest. This was my home for a few days and I was a part of a timeless story.
If you’re looking for a retreat that combines luxury, nature and authenticity Castell Son Claret is certainly the place to visit.

Excursion Tip:
If you’re staying for longer and wish to see a little more of Mallorca my insider tip would be to take a trip to Livingdreams in Santa Maria Del Cami.
Take the route over the hills, avoiding the motorway – a super pretty way to experience the real Mallorca.
Here you will find the combination of a super inspiring interior and garden showroom as well as the most delicious Asian fusion restaurant for lunch or dinner.
I love the story about the chefs being trained in Bali by star chef and restaurant opener Will Meyrick. This has lead to the chefs being able to construct incredibly authentic asian dishes in the heart of Mallorca. An experience not to be missed!
The speciality is that furniture can be made to measure and shipped globally. Most importantly though Nicole specialises in outdoor furniture and furnishings that can stay outside and look fabulous despite snow and rain. I have seen proof myself of one of her sofas which is currently 8 years old. Both the sofa and furnishings still look fabulous!
The owner Nicole Hoch is a dear friend of mine and we had great fun when I visited just this week. Don’t you love my hat? I even managed to get it on the plane back to Zurich with me. It did cause conversation and admiration among other flight guests which added to the fun – smile!
