Hi Everyone,
There’s something magical about celebrating love in the heart of the Swiss Alps. This year we marked our 27th wedding anniversary with an unforgettable escape to Six Senses Crans Montana. Starting with the James Bond feeling as we entered the underground greeting area.
Upon arrival at the Six Senses Crans Montana we were led to six cow bells representing six different senses; Sight, Smell, Touch, Intuition, Taste, & Sound. We had to choose one sense for our stay and then ring that bell. Each Six Senses resort has their own welcome ritual designed to fit in with local customs. Cow bells are very typical in the Swiss mountains, hence the bell ritual at Crans Montana.
Enough of an introduction, time to scroll further for a pictorial account of “Awakening Senses at Six Senses Crans Montana”

Our Suite:
Our suite was a dream – warm wooden interiors, soft lighting, and a large private balcony with views of the snow-capped mountain peaks…
We loved the delicious anniversary chocolate cake that was given as a welcome present.
I’m a sucker for beautiful bathrooms and this one ticked all the boxes, especially with the fantastic stand alone bath and separate his and hers wardrobes.
Spa and pool areas:
There is real magic in the hotel’s spa experience with many wellness treatments and classes available. I had a fabulous full body massage and attended a morning yoga class whilst hubby had great fun enjoying the gym with its huge variety of exercise machines, weights, etc.
The room shown in the bottom of the picture above is the anti-aging workshop room. If we were staying longer you would certainly have found me there too – smile!
The pool also has an outdoor arm to it and an air about it that really lets the mind wander and think one is in a far away place.
We often focus on the infrastructure of a spa and yes it is beautiful to say the least but even more beautiful were the people working in the spa. Each time we entered we were greeted in such a friendly way it was like popping in to say hello to good friends.
Outdoor pool and terrace:
One of the things that really impressed us about the Six Senses Crans Montana is just how relaxed it is. A five star luxury resort that truly invites you to simply act as though you are at home. Especially the outdoor pool and surrounding terrace were both beautiful spots to simply relax and soak in some clean mountain air and Spring sunshine.
It was extremely difficult to get Mr FunkyForty to move from here – hehe!
The unexpected recycled paper making course:
Both Mr FunkyForty and I were surprised when we saw recycled paper making on our weekend schedule but it ended up being one of the true highlights of the weekend.
We learnt that 0.5% of all Six Senses Resorts’ revenue goes towards sustainability projects, helping local communities. Making our experience not only memorable but meaningful as well.
Experiencing how easy it is to transform shredded paper into beautiful sheets of homemade paper was a reminder that small, mindful actions can have a lasting impact. My favourite part of course was decorating the paper with dried flowers at the end just before the drying process.
Dinner in the Wild Cabin:
We were lucky enough to be one of the first to try out the innovative culinary concept introduced at the Wild Cabin by the new Executive Chef Emiliano Gabriel Vignoni. All courses are served in sharing platter style – this is something Mr FunkyForty and I really love as it means we get to try so many more flavours.
Emphaisis is placed on using fresh local mountain ingredients. The tastes however go beyond the mountains with fabulous flavours from around the world integrated into the menu.
Check out the pictures of our wonderful dishes. I apologise in advance if this makes you hungry – smile.
Breakfast:
Breakfast was a delicious buffet also in the Wild Cabin. There’s a lovely a-la-carte menu to choose from as well as an extensive buffet with everything your heart wish for. Of course my sweet tooth led me straight away to the yummy home made pastries…
That’s it for our lovely romantic getaway to Six Senses Crans Montana.
