Hi everyone hope you’re having a brilliant day!
Each year it’s tradition that my hubby and I go away for our wedding anniversary – this year no exception, we went to Burgundy. I had to laugh though as he phones telling me he has a cunning plan for our weekend away…low and behold he manages to book a slot on his “playground”! Keep on reading to see what we did, what I wore and what to pack for a Spring weekend away in Burgundy.
Three nights away and just the two of us – really missed our daughter but it was so exciting to be going on our adventure alone – made us feel like when we first met all over again – those days were packed with spontaneous weekends away exploring the realms of Burgundy 😉
Lets start with my hubby’s playground – one of his big passions is to go to a track day at least once a year – Pistenclub.de is the best (in our opinion) organisation for fabulous sports car track days in Europe at a reasonable price!
As you see we visited the beautiful Dijon-Prenois racetrack – former F1 host.
Maybe weird but I love roaming around the track exterior finding the best photo spots – especially taking little videos with iPhone, making my hubby cringe as he watches them saying “i wasn’t driving that slow” – haha!
Showing off my favourite new phone cover given to my by TAG Heuer – thank you 😉
See that smile – it’s like having a child, you can’t not let them have their fun if you get this smile in return 😉
Going into Dijon for lunch is always fun, parking at the train station car park super convenient and close to town centre.
Pretty park in Dijon and here you see my specially planned track outfit – plenty of red so that I am easily seen! (Porsche design jacket- vintage, t-shirt Shanghai Tang, trousers Zara).
We decided to have dinner at the hotel that night – see previous post on Magical Weekend in Beaune for where we often stay.
Perfect ending to a lovely day – wearing my trusty Maje dress…Hubby in Tommy Hilfiger shirt.
Saturday morning started with one of our favourites…eating our way through the morning market in Beaune:
Yummy nougat…
Goats cheese from the region.
Local salami…and at every stand there is something to taste – fabulous!
A lite lunch at one of the cafes right in the centre of town and then time to taste the latest wines at Henri de Villamont our favourite wine maker in Burgundy. Great link for other wine tours here.
Next venture for the day, our traditional castle hunting (we visit a different castle each visit to Burgundy)- we decided on Chateau Bussy Rabutin an hours drive from Beaune.
Roger de Rabutin, Comte de Bussy (1618–1693), was ordered by Louis XIV to retire here after being disgraced for allegedly having taken part in an orgy and for composing his Histoire amoureuse des Gaules about various courtly love affairs (sounds like a great book to read – smile).
I’m going to confess to wearing last night’s dress all day Saturday…
but instead of lovely black pumps paired with bright red converse and same red jacket from the day before (I like to pack light so it’s a matter of making the most out of each item taken).
Finally dinner…
You’ll be happy to know I did have a little black dress packed for dinner – a vintage Maje number ;-)…sorry no picture but love this one currently available at Maje (might have to add it to my collection – smile:
Sunday morning was simply a matter of packing up and driving home – we didn’t want to be too late as I was off to London the next day for the 3040bloggermeet (more about that soon).
Wearing: Cardigan and trousers – Zara, Top – Country Road, High Tops – National Standard
I’m not jumping for joy at the prospect of going home but am feeling happy and relaxed after our little romantic weekend away together – thank you so much Reto, (love you mega xxxxxxx).
Finally the promised packing list:
- Khaki trousers
- 2 tops (red t-shirt and white country road top)
- 2 dresses (one that also converts to a day dress and one little black number)
- shoes – red converse & black pumps
- 2 jackets (red casual & black blazer)
- underwear
- navy shirt with skinny black trousers, a black cardigan and white high tops worn en route.
- almost forgotten…helmet 😉
