One of the most wonderful things about being an Influencer is some of the wonderful adventures we get invited to.
Todays adventure dates back to May but I write about it now as Summer vacation time is around the corner and you might still be thinking of ideas for lovely day trips. This is one I can truly recommend.

A Wonderful Days Adventure with Wine Tasting at the Staatskellerei Zurich
The day started off wit a bus trip to Schloss Laufen by the Rhein falls. This trip is also easy enough to do with the car and there is amply parking available.
The Rhein Falls is the largest waterfall in Switzerland and Europe. The Rhein Falls are about 15’000 years old and in Summer have a capacity flow of approx. 600’000 litres per second. We were ever so lucky as it had been raining for some time before our trip yet on the day we had the most awesome weather. Meaning we got to see the falls in full force – quite impressive to say the least!
From Schloss Laufen we took a boat all the way to the Staatskellerei Zurich in Rheinau. Looking at the photo above you can see why this trip is also known as the Amazon trip.
When we reached the “Kraftwerk” our boat was taken off to the side and transported via what looked like railway tracks, to the other sideof the “Kraftwerk”.
Arriving at the Staatskellerei we were welcomed with the most wonderful sparkling wine (link here) – I’m still dreaming of this – and a tour of the cellars.
Staatskellerei Zurich – A wine tradition since 1862!
Imagine the original Staatskellerei Zurich dates back to the year 778 AD belonging to the Benedictine monastery at the time. Amazingly some of the original oak barrels from it’s monastery days are still in use today! It’s current state was founded by the famous author Gottfried Keller in 1862 with the main purpose being to supply hospitals with wine.
Since 1997 the Staatskellerei Zurich belongs to the Mövenpick group and is the largest producer of wine in the Zurich region. In addition to growing their own grapes they also buy grapes from 90 different producers throughout the region of Zurich.
In total wine is made from 24 different grape varieties. Amongst others there are Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewürtstraminer, Merlot and Chardonnay as well as local grape varieties such as Gamaret and Diolinoir. A wine for every taste bud!
Interesting to note is that all wine produced here is vegan – this means no animal products at all are used in the wine making process!
I think I need to stay here a little longer to try a bit more wine 😉
Fortunately the lovely smell of lunch on the grill was enough to finally get me out of the cellar after all… plus of course the promise of more wine to taste…

Lunch was followed by a short walk to the vineyard …
…and then a visit to the Klosterkirche Abbey Rheinau
Rheinau Abbey originally a Benedictine monastery in Rheinau, founded in about 778 and suppressed in 1862. So many. fascinating stories to hear about the Abbey that it is worth booking a tour.
