A weekend of Wellness & Adventure – Post Hotel Achenkirch

1. Hi Everyone,

Especially at this time of year, it is great to come across a place where there is lots to do. A place where you can rejuvenate yourself despite the weather! We’ve discovered  that perfect place nestled in the Austrian Tirol mountains, just next to Innsbruck. A picturesque 4 hour drive from Zurich  led us to Post Hotel Achenkirch, a hotel with the ambiance of being a World in it’s own right…

A weekend of Wellness & Adventure – Post Hotel Achenkirch

Day 1 – Arrival:

Upon arrival we were instantly made welcome by being seated in the lovely lounge area and handed a glass of prosecco!

Then off to our room to get ready for dinner. The hotel was huge and at first glance I was somewhat in awe but in no time at all it was super easy to navigate everywhere and by the time we left we felt genuinely sad to be leaving our mini World behind us.

Our room was so comfy it was hard to hurry up for dinner…

I definitely fell in love with the useful signposts everywhere – haha!

The award winning gourmet restaurant is made up of lots of different dining areas. Each area decorated a little differently but all with lovely white tablecloth elegance.

A superb wine list and we fell in love with the Riedel carafe… I can see one of these coming  to our home soon!

Just a little food porn to make your mouth water…of course we had to order traditional Wiener Schnitzel one evening!

Day 2 – A day of Fitness, Action and Wellness all in one!

Life of a blogger, of course I went down to breakfast the next morning armed with brochures, macbook and iphone…

Breakfast was followed by a tour of the hotel…

Through the stables where I certainly could have spent more time with new found friends… More about riding offers here.

Other sport facilities included:

• 7’000 sq meters wellness area
• Indoor/ Outdoor tennis courts
• Squash courts
• Golf

Each day there is a wealth of activities planned that you can either join or not at your leisure.

Fitness

We were excited to learn that there was an in-house Shaolin Master and grabbed the opportunity to have our very first Tai Chi lesson.

…please don’t laugh at how ridiculous I look trying to defend myself – smile!

Having survived Tai Chi I really felt a spot of shopping was in order…doesn’t this shopping street remind you of Disney World!

Action

Time for some action and boy did we have fun test driving the Hotels own Tesla S 85D electro car.  Going from 0 to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds but we promise to have kept to all speed limits… The hotel also has 2 Johammer electric motorbikes available for test driving.

There are so many beautiful routes to take from Achenkirch. We decided to drive to the Tegnersee  in Germany – perfect place to stop for coffee and cake.

…am going to have to run a little extra now after this cake!

Wellness

Next a spot of wellness, testing out several sauna and steam baths.

In the amazing 7’000 sq m dedicated solely to wellness.

With more than 20 different massages and body treatments to choose from we could happily have booked a whole week! There’s even a private spa for couples. Not to mention the Far East traditional Chinese Medicine treatments also on offer,.

Finally after testing 2 of the pools, 2 steam rooms and 2 different sauna rooms, we made our way back to the room ready for dinner.

…where the next surprise awaited us – a spot of Austrian wine tasting.

My favourite was this brut rose – definitely worth a try should you visit!

So the weekend comes to an end and it’s time for the journey back to Zurich.
