It’s a little like “WHAM HERE I AM” and the cold front is upon us. Leaving no other wish than to simply crawl into cosy sweaters and try to hibernate inside as much as possible.
Anyone else know this feeling?
In any case it has got me trawling through these last Fashion Weeks Street Style photos to pick out 8 different ways to style a sweater. Am certain there is something for every taste in this post. All photos where taken by me and my Nikon D5 in either Milan or Paris.

8 Ways to Style Your Sweater
1. Classic Turtle Neck
Easy really, the classic turtle neck worn simply over jeans with a matching trench thrown on top. A very stylish outfit.
Points to watch are the length of the sweater – make sure it’s not too long otherwise the whole stylish effect turns to frump. Also note the fabulous over the knee boots which really complete the whole look to perfection.
2. Half in half out
Brilliant answer for styling those sweaters that are simply a little too long for you. Tucking only part of the sweater in has the added effect of making your waist look small.
3. Fully tucked into skirt
We all know this is going to make your waist look bulkier than it actually is but it still looks cute. Especially if you go for fun nuances like a bright colour with matching bag.
Beam this look over to me please – smile!
4. Big and bulky over trousers or jeans
Great for those days you only feel like being casual. Love this all in pink look – one of my favourite colours right now.
Here’s the question… would you change your hair colour for your sweater? It does look cute on this woman!
5. This seasons trickiest trend
I’m being serious here. Wide trousers with an oversized shirt topped with a short sweater is one of this seasons hot trends. however before picking up on this be careful! It wouldn’t take much to make many of us look very silly in this outfit.
This woman is fabulously tall and carries it to perfection. For the rest of us (unless you too are fabulously tall), wear heels, make sure the shirt does not go right down to your knees and stick to a sweater that finishes around the waist or higher. Also make sure the sweater is not too loose fitting!
6. Simply thrown over skinny pants
Love this bulky turtle neck simply thrown over skinny pants. The bulkier the better, especially if it’s not too long. If the sweater were longer it would look better to go for the slightly tucked in version. But seen here is perfect for this look.
Note the play with blue bag and shoes – it’s these nuances that are key in making your outfit that little bit special.
7. Bulky but tight fitting over a short skirt
A tight fitting sweater over a short skirt always has some special appeal to it. Note the khaki with khaki tones – one of this seasons hot trends is to keep the colours together only adding black accessories.
The multiple bag look is also hot on the trend list. Including small bags worn on boots or even shoes.
8. Sweater me pure!
If nothing matches simply wear your sweater on it’s own. Team it with pumps or boots – the choice is yours.
