Hi Everyone,
One thing which really strikes when looking at trends and styles for Summer 2017 is how so many of the looks are about breaking traditional fashion rules. This year is all about taking Fashion a little further than you would have before. Dare to break the rules and create a new you!
Today’s post, covers highlights from last weeks personal styling event with Melanie Albisser at Modissa in Zurich. Showing you 7 surprising styles for Summer 2017.
7 Surprising Styles for Summer 2017
1. Long, Long for every day
Whilst long dresses and skirts are usually put in the “ball gown” box, this Summer sees them coming out for every day wear. Especially great for teaming up with sneakers.
Paris Spring 2017 Fashion week saw long tulle gowns on the catwalk worn with sneakers!
2. Military with Frills
Under the motto of anything goes – why not bring a little femininity to the traditional boyish military look.
3. Bling with a Cotton Shirt
No longer necessary to reserve bling for evening only. Wear it out shopping and team it with stripes.
4. The Printed T-shirt for Town
If you’re anything like me, printed t-shirts have always been reserved for weekends at the beach or pool. Summer 2017 however sees us teaming up our printed t-shirts with the most formal of skirts. Simply wearing them whenever we are in the mood. If you don’t have a nice printed t-shirt in your wardrobe NOW is the time to get one.
…just to prove that I practise what I preach – haha! Holding a little dress, but wearing a favourite new t-shirt with lace pencil skirt.
5. Stripes and Pleats
Pleated skirts are another must have. Teamed up with stripes they can be thought of as the Summer 2017 uniform!
6. Off the Shoulder Suiting
Do you own an off the shoulder top yet? Another wardrobe essential. Try teaming it up with matching bottoms to get an off the shoulder suit look!
7. The Shift Dress
Yes, you are right this is not a surprising trend but what is surprising is how different these dresses look when worn as opposed to simply on the hanger.
As seen here with Melanie the dress looks quite box like and yet when worn it actually has a lovely feminine look to it.
We all fell in love with it after seeing it worn by Christina from New In Zurich
