Hi Everyone,
With everything else that’s currently happening in the world, 2025 is shaping up to be a year where people are focusing ever more on their outdoor home spaces as a place to rejuvenate. This year it’s all about creating stylish sanctuaries for ourselves, family and friends.
Visiting the Livingdreams show garden in Meilen, Zurich this week totally confirmed my introductory hypothesis. The experts there gave me some great tips of how to turn any outdoor space into our own magical retreat. After all this is what we are aiming for in 2025!
So what are the “5 Top Exterior Home Trends for 2025 – According to the Experts”? Keep scrolling down to find out.
5 Top Exterior Home Trends for 2025 – According to the Experts

Nature meets design – the rise of wooden elegance
The connection between nature and home design continues to flourish. Expect quality wooden furniture to take centre stage in outdoor spaces.
Think sleek oversized teak dining tables, handcrafted benches and wooden loungers. The goal being to create a warm earthy aesthetic, complementing gardens whilst offering durability and timeless appeal.
My hubby is always nervous about having wooden garden furniture with our harsh Central European climates so I have deliberately included a photo above of furniture which has been in the Livingdreams Meilen show garden for several years now.
2. Zen Spaces for Mind and Body
Not only the Livingdreams experts but also others are predicting a surge in dedicated Zen areas for 2025. Complete with asian inspired figurines, soothing water features, pebbled areas and plenty of seating. Homeowners are embracing tranquility like never before.
3. Biophilic design – Bringing Nature Even Closer
Plants aren’t just for gardens anymore. They’re being integrated into outdoor architecture. Experts highlight an increase in living walls, rooftop gardens and built-in planter seating.
The focus is on enhancing biodiversity, creating green sanctuaries and reinforcing our innate connection to nature. Art the same time colour is also a top trend with everyone realising just how much a pop of colour can lift the spirits.
PS: given our busy lifestyles, it is no longer a sinn to have high quality “real touch” nuances in the garden such as the flowers above. They have the advantage of always looking beautiful after a hard day in the office, without any added maintenance.
However if you do take this option go for maximum 1 – 2 large statement bouquets. You don’t want an element of “kitch” taking over.
4. Smart Spaces – Tech-Infused Outdoor Comfort
Woop woop, the future is here, also bringing us smarter outdoor solutions. I’m absolutely loving the idea of simply pushing a button for the large sun umbrella to go up and down by itself. Anyone else with me there?
5. 50’s Playtime – Nostalgia meets Outdoor Fun
If you love the charm of mid-century design, you’re in luck! 2025 is bringing back the joyful aesthetics of the ’50s with cute fringed umbrellas, colourful cushions and retro inspired pool furniture.
Picture pastel dining sets, ’50s patterns, scalloped parasols and an ambiance that screams summer nostalgia. The perfect blend of old-school playfulness and modern comfort. This trend is set to dominate stylish backyards for a few summers to come!
Everything pictured in this article is available from Livingdreams Meilen or Livingdreams Mallorca!
Which trend is your favourite? Maybe you intend on combining a couple – smile!
