4 Ways to Style a Chocolate Skirt

Hi Everyone,

In life you often hear it’s the little things that matter. The same however goes for fashion. A little or somewhat discrete item can make all the difference in your wardrobe. It’s all a matter of using your imagination and giving it a chance.

A chocolate skirt for example may sound drab on it’s own however, a little like a Christmas tree, it too has the potential to be the best item you ever owned in your wardrobe.

Chocolate, just like black goes with any number of different colours. You can dress it up or down, accessorise or not. Let your mood dictate what you do with your chocolate skirt. One thing for certain though, that seemingly simple brown skirt may well be your best goto friend going forward.

Today’s outfit post is taken from the new Spring collection currently available at LaTienda – it is certainly worth checking out her fabulous online store here for even more inspiration!

4 Ways to Style a Chocolate Skirt

  1. Leaving it Earthy

Keeping a look Earthy and pulling it off properly takes some thought. You can wear as many different Earthy tones together as you wish in one outfit but make sure there is a theme that is pulled through.

In this look it is the theme of going back in time – today I am a cowboy (cowgirl?)… the boots, the hat and relaxed woven bag all match the theme of the day. Not to forget the relaxed linen shirt which I’m also planning on timing up with jeans and shorts going forward.

Adding the Valentino belt lets everyone know this outfit is not an accident. I thought about it and wanted it to look put together.

Layered chains are one of this seasons hottest trends. The chains match the belt buckle in that they are all in a yellow gold tone.

2. With a cream sweater

Draped over the shoulders just in case the temperature drops…

Once worn, casual tucked into the belt in one corner to give the outfit a little shape.

I have a real thing about cream sweaters this Spring…

3. Adding stripes

There’s something so fresh about stripes in Spring….

Isn’t it funny how a striped sweater makes the outfit look so totally different.

Note the matching cardigan slung over the shoulders, without it the look would be bare – sometimes it’s simply necessary to add a little more to an outfit! Especially this cardigan as it’s exactly the same colour as the orange stripes of the sweater.

A part of me is beginning to think this bag is simply a must have to make any outfit look great. Perfect for shopping too!

4. Simple fun with a jeans jacket

A white t-shirt, jeans jacket and white sneakers will get you anywhere… add an oversized straw hat and voila Spring is definitely in the air!

So as you see there are many ways you can style a simple brown skirt…I haven’t even begun with strappy heels and blazer or sparkly top yet…

    1. I guess you are right, chocolate is really a colour you can wear all year round.
Especially in NZ where the WInter’s are so much milder.

  2. You are so right, this skirt is a dream. I want it. And you did a great job in combining it with the different tops. Love all of them.
