December and Christmas… that time of year when we all love to get dressed up no matter what. Be it for date night, Christmas parties, entertaining at home or simply to get into the festive season full stop.
However does it always have to lead to that little black dress or sparkles? The short answer is of course no! In fact going for an original look, one that truly reflects your personality is always going to make you look and feel more festive both outside and in.
This post outlines 4 very original outfits which I personally love. All outfit pieces are designed by Marina Anouilh, a truly favourite designer of mine with a concept store in Gstaad, pop up store in Bongenie, Geneva and an international online store too.

The Velvet Jumpsuit
Jumpsuits have been on the hot fashion list for several seasons. However, this rich textured purple velvet jumpsuit has to top them all.
I love the super soft fabric which seems to float away to nothing yet maintains a certain structure at the same time.
I’ve teamed the jumpsuit with a pretty navy wool hat and statement necklace.

2. Velvet Marrakesh blazer and Velvet Trousers
OMG there is something so exquisite about this look and the pants feel like sweatpants to wear but look like the most elegant pair of velvet trousers one could ever own.
Granted going out I would either close buttons or wear a silk camisole underneath… but for the photo we decided it looks great left open.
Really need to point out the earrings with this outfit too – aren’t they fabulous. Talk about love at first sight!!!

3. The Velvet Prairie Festive Look
This rich red velvet skirt falls so nice and basically makes any outfit look festive in itself. It also comes in peacock blue.
I teamed it with a rich brown velvet blazer and brown wool hat – truly feeling like a festive Prairie Gal – haha!

4. The Marina Dress in Blue Cord
If you read FunkyForty.com regularly you’ll know I am the hugest fan of the Marina dress.
A maxi shirt cut dress with lots of volume around the skirt such that it suits many body shapes.
See here for details of my velvet Marina dress.
Or here for my Summer cotton Marina dress.
One could say this dress is truly iconic to Marina Anouilh. Warning, once you have one you will certainly crave for a 2nd or 3rd…
This cord dress is available online here.
