Hi Everyone,
Bonjour Paris! And what a start, with what seemed like the whole of Paris turning up to the Dior show yesterday. Once I had given up trying to capture real “Dior” outside the show, I finally began to appreciate the lovely creativity on the streets.
There was a certain mood in the air, so distinctively Paris. It cannot be confused with Milan in any way. Paris fashion is about adventure, liberty and testing boundaries. There was absolutely no sense of having to showcase commercially viable outfits. Instead, Paris screamed loud and clear that this is where the true creatives live and celebrate their talents.
Of course, as with each season, there was a lot of white and black to be spotted outside Dior. There was, however, also plenty of colour. The show itself was exciting. Jonathan Anderson certainly must have had fun creating this playful collection. It is interesting that in the same season Gucci appears to be moving in a more commercial and safe, while Dior is becoming more playful. A real distinction between Kering and LVMH. Can Kering’s new “car man” CEO – the former Renault boss – bring more profits by adding horsepower?
Maison Margiela had a beautiful, colourful collection of its own, and this aesthetic was also spotted on the streets. If you like colour, they have a wonderful range of beautiful shades in the shops now for Fall/Winter 2026. Personally, I love their tones of purple this season.
