Hi Everyone,
One of the most fun things about Autumn has to be the need to add accessories to every outfit as we venture out the door. I bet you’re similar to me in that you have a pile of scarves, hats and bags just waiting. However just like everything else in the wardrobe, it requires a little thought to make sure the accessories we use in Autumn really do the trick on our overall outfit.
Today we talk about “3 Tricks for Accessorising Right in Autumn.” Keep reading to find out more…

3 Tricks to Accessorising Right for Autumn
1. Matchy Matchy
When accessorising always make sure that your accessory matches to something else – either another accessory or else to a part of your outfit. Here the scarf and tartan on the bag have matching elements.
There is one exception to this rule and that is when your entire outfit including other accessories is monochrome and you decide to add one non matching thing to make a real statement. For example if your whole outfit including coat and shoes and scarf are chocolate brown you might like to add a bright yellow bag for fun.
2. Experiment with different ways of styling
This is the first time I have worn a scarf to tie my hair into a ponytail and it felt fun – in fact I think I will wear my hair like this more often going forward.
Another way to wear a scarf is to drape around your neck and then place a belt over to add shape. You might also like to try tying your scarf around your waist like a belt – best with silk or cotton scarves.
Note how here too the fabric on the bag matches the scarf. The hat too picks up a colour in the scarf.
3. Go for Statement Pieces that will have Impact
Carefully select the accessories according to your outfit. Make sure that the accessories you select really do make a difference to your outfit. If they don’t then maybe exchange them for others that do.
I like to have a few sets of three pieces that will make an impact on my outfits. One grey set as this teams well with black. Then a pink set for a pop of colour on a dull Autumn or Winter day. Of course a Tartan set that will add interest to an otherwise plain ensemble.
