Hi Everyone,
Red is one of those colours a little like black. In reality it never goes out of fashion it’s just a matter of how and when you wear it. You could say a touch of red is essential in every wardrobe. There are tricks to wearing it which I talk about further down. Worn well it can make every difference to an outfit.
The all red look in fact continued to be a particular favourite in Paris this Fashion Week.
There are however also times red should NOT be worn. Find out more about my 3 red wardrobe basics and when not to wear them. Deliberately adding the word “my” as you will always find these 3 items in my wardrobe!
3 Red Wardrobe basics and When Not to Wear Them
-
The red Spring coat
You might think this is simply a nice to have but believe me once you add one to your wardrobe you’ll ask yourself how you ever managed without. It’s the perfect thing to brighten up a dull or cold Spring day. Wearing very light colours on these days can end up looking as though you got the weather wrong. Red however is both light and solid at the same time.
Perfect teamed with either black or white. Your red Spring coat will end up becoming a favourite Spring goto item!

2. Red shoes
Yes as easy as that a pair of red pumps is not to be done without. Wear with your little black dress as a feature or team with other red items. Heel height is up to you. I am always walking lots so as soon as kitten heels are remotely fashionable I will stick to them. Personally though a really high heel will be favourite for date night – smile!
Wish Summer just around the corner you might like to try heeled red sandals.

3. The red bag
With all this talk about red it almost goes without saying that a red bag belongs to your wardrobe staples. As there are so many shades of red it’s wise to choose a shade that goes well with your other red items.
I bought this red bucket bag in Milan last year but it continues to be one of my favourite Spring /Summer bags.

When not to wear red
As pretty as red is, it will always draw attention and can polarise. Red is the one colour you should stay away from when going for an important corporate meeting. Particularly an interview. You don’t want your potential future line manager being intimidated by you.
Once well established for who you are in a company feel free to tastefully wear red into the office – you may just brighten up everyone’s day! I once had a line manager who kept on visiting me after I had moved departments in the hope of catching me wearing red and pink stripes, (yes I wore them in a Bank!!!). It always cheered him up. Like they say it’s the little things that count – smile!
Trick if you think red doesn’t suit you
If you think red doesn’t suit you wear another colour closer to your face, i.e. a black or white collared shirt. This will break up the effect of the red against your skin.

Fabulous outfit and perfect tips for these red essentials.
I love red … especially when it’s clashed with other colours.
I wear it when I feel low in confidence and a bit ‘wobbly’.
Red is the perfect colour to fake it!
