Hi Everyone,
First article of 2025 and today you’ll embark on a whirlwind journey through the heart of Singapore where luxury meets adventure at every turn.
Singapore is an absolute favourite stopover on my way to New Zealand. However it is truly much more than simply a stopover destination. It would be very easy to visit for a whole week or more and not get bored – see here for previous top tips for visiting Singapore.
Back to today’s journey starting with the exclusive JetQuay service, moving on to enjoying historic landmarks, delicious food, adventure tour and more.
Keep reading for the whole story about “17 Hours of Luxury and Adventure in Singapore”.
17 Hours of Luxury and Adventure in Singapore
The adventure started the minute we stepped out of the plane…
JetQuai
The minute we stepped into Chiangi airport from the plane we were met by super friendly staff from JetQuai. Then driven in an airport shuttle buggy, to the special JetQuai terminal and experienced their expedited immigration and customs procedures. No quest, no hassle – just seamless, first-class service that set the tone of our fabulous day ahead.
As a special treat we even had our own private arrival room where a traditional Singapore breakfast was waiting for us.
This is a service anyone can book. In addition to private rooms there is also an exclusive VIP lounge with showers. The perfect alternative if not invited to an airline lounge as part of your flight.
See here for more information.
The Fullerton Hotel
After breakfast it’s off to the Fullerton Hotel. A beacon of elegance and heritage, we are told it used to be the old main post office building.
Here we had a couple of hours to lap up the luxury of our fabulous duplex suite with views of the Singapore River. The infinity pool also looked super inviting but we decided to leave that for our next visit.
Of course I fell in love with the many stuffed bears dotted around the hotel – smile!
Strolling through the historic corridors of this iconic hotel made me feel in some way connected to Singapore’s storied past. I think it was imagining all the famous people who have stayed here before me.
Lunch at the Tiffin Room, Raffles Hotel
The Raffles Hotel dates back to 1892. Can you imagine, back then it was actually situated on the shore with water right outside it’s main entrance. This is truly Singapore’s most iconic hotel with a great part to play in it’s history.
It is said that a ball was taking place just as the Japanese invaded Singapore in the Second World War. Legend has it that one last waltz was held to distract the Japanese soldiers while the silver was hidden in their midst.
A visit to the Raffles hotel has been on my bucket list for some time now so I was ever so excited about lunch at the Tiffin Room. The menu consists of delicious North Indian cuisine also including authentic specialties served in tiffin boxes. I felt ever so honoured to meet Chef Kuldeep Negi (pictured above), who has been at the helm of the restaurant for almost a decade now.
The whole lunch experience was super delicious – we will be back!

Scouting Local Fashion and Crafts at Design Orchard
After lunch we headed off to Orchard Road to Design Orchard, a premier multi-label designer store, proudly managed by the Singapore Fashion Council.
It truly is a great one-stop shop for anyone looking to buy a locally made souvenir, piece of fashion etc. Personally I had great fun checking out some of the beautiful fashion labels – will have to see if I can help some of them gain exposure here in Europe – smile!
Singapore Sidecars
Having shopped to our hearts content it was then time for Singapore Sidecars – the world’s first ever vintage vespa sidecar tours. Surely the coolest way possible to discover Singapore. Whizzing through the vibrant streets in vintage style, taking in iconic landmarks and hidden gems along the way.
The story of how the tours began is so inspiring and profits are channelled to supporting good causes such as cancer research. The operation was co-founded by Simon Wong after loosing his wife to cancer. One of the best tours Mr FunkyForty and I have ever done!

Magic at the Jewel’s Canopy Park
The grand finale of our day was the Jewel Changi Airport. A nature themed shopping complex featuring the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. Here we were transported into a world of wonder with stunning indoor gardens, whimsical mazes and more.
Open 24 hours the Jewel Changi Airport is an absolute must for any trip to/through Singapore. Visit the Canopy Park on the top floor – a 14’000 square metres recreational wonderland for everyone!
Conclusion
17 hours have never felt so enchanting! Whether it’s the grandeur of historic hotels, awesome food or the pulse of modern creativity, Singapore delivers a kaleidoscope of luxurious and adventurous experiences. There is something new and exciting every time you visit!
