Hi everyone – welcome to the weekend!
So far living in Zurich buying shoes has always been a bit of a challenge but this week saw the opening of 1’400 square meter Jelmoli Shoe World in Zurich. Not sure what to expect I was in absolute awe at the stunning light and airy design – created by Italian Architects ( Paolo Lanzi). The vision of open space was created with clean lines, using cold materials compensated by warm colours ensuring shoes and bags come to the foreground.
The picture above is of the crystal room – designed specifically for “story telling” with the aim of changing the stories periodically.
The collection of shoes ranges from Edgy right through to staple classics. Taking into account the fact that people travel and like to find something a little different there are brands exclusive to Jelmoli.
Love the fact that there are shoes for every price range with 80 women’s and 40 mens shoe brands ranging from Kurt Geiger (the “Zara” for shoes) right through to Alexander Wang, Balmain etc.
These are my current favourites – feel like I “NEED” a pair 😉
Even more impressive than the shoes though is the atmosphere between the people working at Jelmoli. I spoke to a few and the feedback was unison – they all mentioned working there was like being part of one big family.
Also speaking with CEO Franco Savastano it was so refreshing to hear how passionate he is about ensuring his employees feel comfortable, giving them support – not only during times of trouble and at the same time ensuring they have the creative freedom needed to do a great job. You will often find him in store during weekends. His strongest vision – which I believe he has reached is making Jelmoli an exclusive shop where everyone feels welcome to come and shop.
It’s going to be fun going forward too with different shoe events throughout:
- 29 April – 30 June Salvatore Ferragano Pop-Up store
- 29 April – 8 June Annabelle Selection
- 14 – 21 May Mystique Pop-Up
- 25 June Karma of Charme Pop-Up
- 9 July – SchoShoes offers the chance to personalise your own shoes (I’m in for that)
- 27 August Serafini Sneaker signing
- 17 September The No Animal Brand – meet Bianca Gubser-Keyman
- 8 October IKKI, meet the designer
On that note wishing you all a fab weekend!
If in Zurich don’t forget to drop by to check out the new Jelmoli Shoe World for yourself!
