Staycation has to be the top travel trend right now and this is exactly what we did last weekend. A staycation at La Reserve Eden Au Lac Zurich. The hotel belongs to the Michel Reybier Hospitality group and is the fourth hotel of the group that I have stayed in so far. One could say I have become a real Michel Reybier Hospitality group junkie – smile! Having simply fallen in love with each of these properties. Apart from great design the thing that strikes me most is the fabulous friendly, helpful and professional staff in each location. Every time I left feeling as though I had made new friends.
La Reserve Eden Au Lac Zurich has become a true secret pearl in Zurich ever since it’s complete renovation in 2020. Designed throughout by Philippe Starck. Exception being the unique stained glass windows throughout which been designed by his daughter – Ara Starck-Furst.
The whole property has been designed in such a way to give the feeling of an imaginary yacht club. Staying here I was easily able to pretend I was in my hometown Auckland, New Zealand.

Location
Nestled along the shores of lake Zurich, in the trendy Seefeld district make this the perfect place to stay for anyone visiting Zurich.
On the one had you have all the boat and swimming possibilities of the lake just across the road. On the other hand, Seefeld is perfect for both shoppers and lovers of hip cafes and restaurants alike.
Within minutes you can walk or take the tram to Paradeplatz to experience Zurich’s main shopping street.
2. Fabulous Food
An open kitchen restaurant is located adjacent to the bar/lobby area. You can choose between contemporary or asian influenced menus. Service is provided all day long from 11:30 am to midnight, at the bar as well as in the restaurants
Chef Marco Ortolani is truly amazing. The burgers are super delicious – I can totally see where the reputation of being the best burgers in town comes from.
Breakfast is also fabulous and certainly not to be missed. Choose between eating in the restaurant downstairs
or have it served in your room…
3. Fantastic Wine List
The wine list is truly impressive. However it is essential to try a wine from the Michel Reybier house estate Chateaux Cos D’Estournel. The winery also has a hotel on site. Certainly on our bucket list of places to visit next – smile!
4. Sleep in Philippe Starck designed rooms
The perfect place to gather inspiration for your own home. From the lamps, desk, chairs and bed you will note the incredible attention to detail. Super comfy mattresses too ensuring the perfect nights sleep.
5. Enjoy a Philippe Starck bath with a view
The bath tubs in the lake view rooms are set up so you can really have a bath whilst watching the boats sail by… I couldn’t imagine anything better could you?
6. Most up to date bathroom gadgets
I had great fun trying out the new Dyson hairdryer, not to forget the scales which give you all sorts of information about your body. Ok, so not sure I wanted to know it all but it was fun to try – haha!
The amenities are also not to be forgotten – I love the specially formulated shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. The bottles are also a lovely generous size so there was plenty left for me to take home and continue using this week. Kind of like extending my vacation…
7. The View
The view from our terrace was so spectacular it felt as though we were right on the lake. Despite the weather not being the absolute best I could still have easily spent the whole day here watching the boats go by.
8. The Cutest Gift
La Reserve Eden Au Lac has to be the only hotel I know where you get this super cute hat as a gift to take back home with you.
Note the hat changes in Summer – obviously we are going to have to come back.
9. La Muna roof top restaurant
Soon the rooftop terrace and restaurant La Muna will open again with the fabulous view overlooking lake Zurich.
10. The super friendly and professional staff
As mentioned right at the beginning of this post, I left feeling as though I had made new friends. Thank you again for making our stay even more wonderful!
