IMG_7362Last nite Modissa held the most brilliant “Create your own Kaftan” event. So popular it was well booked out prior to the day and I now know why!

The evening started with a glass of prosecco and detailed instructions by the designer duo from fashion label “&JUNE”.

For those of you who could not be there here are the three basic steps to making your own kaftan in pictures – Have Fun!

Step 1:

Choose a piece of fabric – approximately 260cm long by 100cm wide (the length is personal but width should be as stated). Fold in half with the wrong sides of the fabric together.

Note how people were choosing fabrics that matched the outfits they were wearing ;-).

Step 2:

Pin paper pattern onto fabric and mark where the sewing should start (approx 10cm in from each side and start approx 20cm from top to leave room for arms) and end (either sew to bottom of fabric or leave some open towards the bottom). Cut out neckline with zigzag scissors.

Step 3:

Sew the seams, cut off any additional fabric you may have off the sides to use as either a belt, scarf or headband 😉

Voila – now the fun part comes of trying on your kaftan! This has got to be the perfect essential for every summer vacation!

We all had so much fun that there is talk of a kaftan party to follow – can’t wait!

Thanks for the brilliant event Modissa!
