Hope you’re doing well. I’m still in NZ – travelling off the beaten track north of the North Island with relatively sparse wifi so posts are a little less frequent but I’ve been meaning to write about mules as they really are an essential item in every fashionistas wardrobe…
The Shoe Trend that’s as Stubborn as a Mule!
If there’s one shoe trend we’ll definitely all be succumbing too in the season to come it’s going to be the flat mule! This poor little shoe has been trying to get back into fashion for at least 3 years now and guaranteed for the season to come there’s going to be a pair in your wardrobe too so you may as well get prepared!
The flat mule is however not one of those shoes that can simply be added to any outfit – worn with a knee length skirt could be the worst fashion mistake out – unless you have super skinny ankles and long legs.
3 Simple Ways to Perfectly Style Your Flat Mules:
1. Wear with skinny trousers that end just above the ankle.
Tone in tone is always good but another favourite team up has got to be mules and skinny blue jeans!
2. Wear with silk pyjamas.
How many of you are ready for this trend yet? If you don’t want to go the whole look – try teaming a pair of silky pyjama trousers with a simple t-shirt. Provided the t-shirt is the right length for you this look works great on most body shapes!
3. Wear with maxi dress or skirt.
We’re going to see skirt and dress lengths getting longer for Spring/Summer ’17. Perfect for teaming up with flat shoes – mules in particular!

I’m loving this trend eventhough I don’t have a pair yet and definitely won’t splurge on the Gucci ones I really like your suggestions to pair with the pj trend or skinny trousers.

I need to get another pair – bought a cute pink pair from H&M which I wanted to take to NZ and then forgot to pack – groan…but I think I will get the Dune ones with faux fur as well! Let me know which ones you end up getting 😉

Hi Yvonne, I was going to say how fab those mules are, but then I noticed that you’re in NZ! How lovely for you. I was there a couple years ago and am already planning my next trip there for this time next year. We visited the Bay of Islands, Russell was the village we stayed in for a few days to chill, and it was bliss. We spent 4 weeks touring in a camper van and loved it. Sorry to go on – how lucky for you!
