Proudly Made in New Zealand – Bettie Monroe

If you’re following me on any other social media channel you’ll have noticed I’m currently visiting my Mum in New Zealand. As a fashion blogger, one of my favourite things to do  is discover local fashion designers. Bettie Monroe is a label that’s been on my radar for some time. This week I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet the lovely designer Helen Fraser.

Totally cute and bubbly, she came into the Mt Maunganui store all smiles after a successful charity fashion show held that morning in the aid of breast cancer. Just one example of how Bettie Monroe is so much more than just a fashion label. Helen is ever so pleased to tell me all their garments are proudly made in New Zealand.

Carefully selected fabrics are used with a feminine touch to them but super easy to take care of. Their iconic wrap around dress has got to be a must have in any busy woman’s wardrobe. One of those pieces that never dates and can be scrunched into the tiniest of balls.

This is just one of the ways you can wear the dress… tied at the side and teamed up with booties – largely because it is currently winter here.

The hat belongs to my hubby – a souvenir from our last visit to Sydney. Boots are a few years old from Zara.

You could of course team the dress with pumps and drop the hat for a more dressed up look. I love the fact that there are so many different things you can do with it – you could even wear it back to front. Or tied in front with simple sneakers.

To achieve this look you simply hold both ties in front, twist them twice and then wrap around your whole body. Finally making a bow in the front. Helen tells me this is how she managed to wear this dress throughout her whole pregnancy!

The dress itself is a lovey sheer polyester chiffon which can simply be washed and hung to dry.

All these dresses need a little shoe string t-shirt tunic as a base. I’ve been having fun with mine as there are so many other things you can do with a t-shirt tunic:

Teaming it up with this pretty blue top – also Bettie Munroe is just one example.
