No Time to Shop Tricks!

Hi Everyone,

Imagine you have 1 hour, 1 budget, 1 body guard and 1 shopping centre! GO!

Whenever I tell anyone about this awesome opportunity everyone gasps and says oh wow how amazing. All I need to ask then is what they would buy and reality kicks in that it’s actually not as easy as it seems to buy successfully with only one hour at your disposal.

No Time to Shop Tricks!

Together with 5 other bloggers I was given this exact opportunity just over a week ago at the Glatt shopping center in Zurich.  All I knew was 1 hour and the budget. I was super excited and super nervous all at the same time, wanting to make sure I spent my budget well. Upon arrival I was told to find my body guard – awesome!

I’m still ever so grateful for his help – carrying bags, giving fashion advice, keeping tabs on budget and time!

…with bodyguard on left and photographer hubby on right. My hubby later said he couldn’t be held accountable for quality of photos. Apparently I had devoted my time to bodyguard over photographer 😉

…the hour was almost up, someone has sore arms and it’s not me 😉

The experience forced me to learn how to shop efficiently. Still making sure not to buy something by mistake simply because of time.

5 Simple Steps to Successfully Shopping in a hurry:

1. Plan in advance the theme you are shopping for. It may be a special occasion or colour.  Give yourself a predetermined budget.

I decided I was going for red. I knew I wanted pieces that were going to give an overall boost to my wardrobe and were easy to combine with things I already own. Special occasions were ruled out.

2. Go to one local shopping centre with a good selection of brands. You save a lot of time when everything is in close proximity.

The Glatt shopping centre was a given for me but I have shopped there in the past as it’s great for leaving family members at a cafe whilst you scout round.

3. Allocate yourself a certain amount of time and breeze through all the shops in that centre looking specifically for items identified in step 1. above. You might even choose to put things you like aside – make a note of the price of every thing you really like.

4. Time out to analyse what you found and determine your final shopping list.

5. Go back and buy the items.

What I purchased…

This red top (found in Globus) is one of my favourite pieces – you may have read about it already in a previous post – see here

Version 2

This skirt from Maje,  (found in Globus) is another favourite.

Pretty velvet loafers bought for a steal at Zara. I also found a cream jumper and white shirt at Zara but haven’t worn these yet.

Then to wrap up the  shopping collection – underwear from Intimissi.

Conclusion about Shopping under Time Pressure:

I’m super pleased with all my purchases and have decided it’s a concept to be developed going forward – thank you so much to Einkaufsrentrum Glatt for this great experience. It certainly was an evening to remember.

I can recommend the shopping centre as a family event too – especially with their cute new little pepper creatures to be seen on:

Wednesdays (14:00 – 15:00 in the Tech Lab) and (15:00 – 16:00 in the mall itself).

Saturdays (16:00 – 17:00 in the Tech Lab) and (17:00 – 19:00 in the mall itself).

A huge thanks to Sprüngli for the fabulous chocolate bunny – I’m having a hard time ensuring he doesn’t get eaten before Easter…

…and of course thank you to the great photographers, including my hubby whom I promise to pay more attention to next shopping trip provided he carries my bags, (sounds fair right – smile)!

  1. I bet you liked the way of shopping especially when you have an body guard who carries all your shopping xxx

  2. You hubby took awesome photos. They give a great impression of the clothes and the shopping center. He shouldn’t be shy about his talents as a photographer. He does a great job photographing a gal that is permanently in motion like a tornado.

  3. You chose some fantastic pieces – I’m surprised you could concentrate though 😉 I especially love the red top and coat, and of course you can’t go wrong with a pair of Adidas trainers. What a fabulous experience! I will be in Zug for a few days in August…maybe I need to book a bodyguard in advance to carry my shopping!
