How to Style a Military Jacket: Ageless Style Linkup

Hi Everyone, as you know once again it’s the first Tuesday of the month so welcome to  the October Ageless Style theme:  How to style a military jacket!

Nine ladies, showcase their version of this theme in their ageless style. It’s always exciting to see what each of them come up with. We never share photos beforehand so it’s a complete surprise to us all – I love the fact that we all come up with something so different and end up inspiring each other in new fashion directions.

Do you already own a military jacket? Having seen them appear as hot items in magazines, showrooms etc.  I bought mine in Spring (see instagram). Initially thinking it would look great with anything and everything – but  when worn with my long olive pleated skirt it certainly didn’t work (on account of the length). So what does work?

Thought i’d simultaneously give you a little tiki tour of the garden today – loving fall and the fact the poi poi is in full bloom…

Being Fall I now like to team my military jacket with black – keeping the outfit as simple as possible with skinny jeans and a skinny long sleeved black top (one of those wardrobe staples).

Love these Sorel booties (similar here)  giving the outfit a bit of a rugid touch.

For a bit of casual chic i’ll team the outfit up with black heeled booties and little black bag.

My all-time favourite little Prada Bag (similar here).

My favourite rose – given by my Hubby last Birthday (LOL xx).

In summary despite not being able to wear the jacket with a skirt i’m still thankful to have it as it’s ever so useful to throw over a black outfit for a bit of colour and warmth – plus my daughter likes to borrow it too!

  1. Olive is such a great color and I think that’s why military style jackets are so popular. I love the longer length of yours and the patches add a fabulous and fun detail. Thanks for sharing your ageless look and for co-hosting this wonderful link up.

    1. Thanks Rena – have to say based on Fashion week looks I’m now hanging out to get a double breasted gold button version…

      Have a lovely day!
      xx Yvonne

  2. I love your authentic take on the jacket look, Yvonne. I am thinking of pulling out my Father-in-law’s army jacket to see if I can pull it off! Thanks for co-hosting, 🙂 Ana

  3. Very cool, Yvonne. We both styled our jackets with a basic black base and booties. I like how you showed two different kinds of boots and the difference the styles can make to an overall look.

  4. Love the way you styled your jacket: both ways. Your Sorel booties are perfect! I love the rugged/biker chic look of them.

And Poi Poi? I’ve never known the name before. I learn something new everyday.

  5. This was such a great pick this month as the utility jacket is an awesome piece in one’s closet and yours is great. Nice styling Yvonne. Your booties and bag are gorgeous!

Welcome by tomorrow and every Thursday and linkup your style with me, lovely lady. Thanks, Ada. =)
