How to look a million dollars on a budget

Hi Everyone,

You don’t always have to spend a fortune to look a million dollars. In fact in the past I have had several instances where sitting across the table from my hubby in a restaurant he was surprised at how little I did actually pay for an outfit, (even without me creatively adjusting the price for his benefit). Of course the opposite has also happened, but we won’t go into that here. This goes under the heading of, “how to sell the necessity of an expensive clothing item to your husband”…

There are a few simple tricks for looking like a million dollars on a budget. Keep reading to find out 5 simple yet easy tricks you too can follow. Perhaps you already do?

The following outfit from Ackermann.ch cost less than CHF 200 all up (excluding the bag).

How to look a million dollars on a budget

  1. Go Monochrome

Monochrome really does have the tendency to look more expensive than a total mix of colours.

2. Choose items with a top trend touch to them

With this outfit the top trend touches are the bows around the sleeves.

3. Choose a statement shoe that looks expensive

Almost everybody comments on these booties the first time they see this outfit.

4. Team up with an expensive bag.

It doesn’t matter how inexpensive an outfit is, an expensive bag will always make it seem like more.

5. Choose fabrics with a nice flow to them that suit you and your body shape.

Items that fit well always look more expensive than those which are not a good fit.

    1. Thank you Nancy…the worst part of this is that my daughter fell in love with the skirt too and in a weak moment I said she could have it under the proviso that i can wear it whenever I want… when will Mother Sainthood ever stop? HAhaha

    1. So glad you liked the humour…my hubby said to me this morning he thought it was boring…at first I was puzzled and then the light switched on (hahahaha!).

  3. Dear Yvonne, I love articles like that, especially from such an inspiring women as you are. I’m also a fan of mixing cheap and expensive items. I invest in more expensive bags, but clothings I wear is often from Zara & Co. This look is Number 1. Love the match with yuor boots. Greets Martina
